Gardening Classes

GROW YOUR OWN GARDEN SERIES at Stone Coop Farm
We speak to folks all the time about growing their own food, and this year we are offering a series of three workshops on how to have a beautiful and edible garden of your own. You are welcome to attend all the classes or pick and choose the classes that most interest you.  We will be limiting the class size to 25 folks and will be holding them in our greenhouse.  Please call Joannée at 810-599-2616 to reserve your spot and to pay for the classes.

  1. Planning Your Own Garden – February 21st
Want to know how many plants you can grow in your garden, how much light it needs, and the best kind of soil?  We will help you figure out all those details.  This class will provide you with spacing and light requirements for different crops, and when they should be planted. We will work through a simple raised bed planting guideline, and how many plants you can grow in this space. We will also review which crops grow best by directly sowing seeds outside, and which work best with seedlings.
When:  Saturday, February 21st   10:00 AM to Noon
Where:  Greenhouse
Cost:  $35

  1. Start Your Own Seedlings Workshop – March 7th
At Stone Coop Farm we grow all our own seedlings for the farm.  We use certified organic growing practices, which includes all natural products for the soil and fertilization.  If you want to have organically grown seedlings for your garden you can buy them directly from us or you can start your own at our Seed Starting Class.  We will provide you with the soil, trays, domes, and skills to start your own seedlings.  You will be able to choose from the seeds we use on the farm or use your own.
When:  Saturday, March 7th   10:00 AM to Noon
Where:  Greenhouse
Cost:  $45 - includes up to 50 soil blocks, with a tray and clear plastic dome, and seeds
Additional soil blocks & trays are available for an additional fee:

We will also discuss which seeds can be directly sown outside in the spring.
